Balloon Fest Color Run Traffic Advisory
On Sunday, September 18th, the Balloon Fest Color Run will be held in the Bayfront Park area. The run will begin at 9:00 a.m. with staggered starts from Bayfront Park. Runners travel out the back of the park and through the gravel lot to Railroad Street, left to just before Pier B to turn around and head back in the upper lane down to the Lake Place Drive (Steam Plant). They use only the uppermost lane of Railroad Street, sharing with roadway with westbound traffic.
They continue past the steam plant through the Endion Lot and onto the roadway into Lake Place Park, continue down and turn around to go south on the Lake Walk.
They take the Lake Walk all the way down through Canal Park Lot onto the Pier, turn right, go under bridge and turn right again onto bay walk.
They proceed on the bay walk all the way up through the Red Lobster /Irvin City Lot and turn left on Railroad Street turning left again on Harbor Drive taking it behind the DECC and onto the Lake Walk roadway behind the Aquarium into Bayfront Park to finish.
Traffic closures will begin at 8:30 a.m., with Railroad Street closing between 5th Avenue West to the Pier B Lot.
During the race, vehicles will be allowed to exit the play front parking lot on Railroad Street, but not allowed to enter.
DECC:
The DECC east gate (Irvin side) will close for this event, however the north gate (on Railroad Street) will remain open and accessible from 5th Avenue West or Lake Avenue.
Pier B:
The Pier B Lot will be accessible from the west via Garfield Avenue & Railroad Street.
Aquarium:
The Aquarium Lot is not affected by this event and will remain open.
Drivers are asked to use caution and be alert for runners in the area along with pedestrians and police directing traffic.
