Utility Work to Close 1^st Ave East in Downtown Duluth September 26-29

[Duluth, MN] – The City of Duluth Public Works and Utilities department has been undertaking a sewer cleaning project along Superior Street in anticipation of a cured in place sewer lining project in October. The sewer lines were built in the 1800’s and will be lined to ensure its longevity and usability for the future. As part of the project, some sanitary sewer repairs are necessary along 1^st Ave East requiring a temporary road closure between 1^st St and Superior Street from September 26 through the 29^th.  Alley access will be maintained as well as the sidewalks.  

Due to the use of large equipment in the area, the west bound lane of Superior Street will be shifted south and the road will be narrowed to two 12 foot lanes, one in each direction, at the 1^st Ave East intersection. There will be no parking allowed on the east and southeast corners of Superior Street near the intersection in order to accommodate the lane shift.  

Motorists may experience delays and are asked to use alternate routes.
