Kenwood Ave/Arrowhead Traffic Improvement Project Update for
October 14, 2016
[Duluth, MN] – The City of Duluth is informing the public about the next phase of construction in the Arrowhead Road and Kenwood Ave signal and paving improvement project. The goals of the improvements are to provide efficient and safe operations for both vehicles and pedestrians by reducing congestion and improving traffic flow, along with improving access to surrounding businesses.
Starting today, October 14, 2016 the contractor will begin milling the existing pavement, and subsequently pave Howard Gnesen Road north of the Arrowhead Road intersection. This work is expected to be completed by Saturday, weather permitting.
Starting Monday, October 17, the Kenwood Avenue/Arrowhead Road intersection and roads will be open in all directions and the contractor will begin milling the existing pavement on both Arrowhead Road and Kenwood Avenue. This work will be followed by reclamation, grading and compaction of the base. This work will be performed under traffic, maintaining one lane in each direction. Upon successful completion of the milling and grading operations, placement of the bituminous pavement will follow. The entire pavement process should be complete by Friday, October 21 assuming favorable weather conditions and smooth operations.
The public is reminded to drive slowly and cautiously in the work zone. The speed limit has been reduced to 20 MPH. Please watch for message signs alerting motorists of project status or detours. Motorists should plan for additional travel time and consider alternate routes due to anticipated delays and traffic congestion.
