Mayor Emily Larson Tapped for Governor’s Young Women’s Initiative Council, also chosen as “Top 100 People to Know in 2017” by Twin Cities Business Magazine
[Duluth, MN] - Governor Dayton announced the creation of a “Young Women’s Initiative of Minnesota” in October and Mayor Emily Larson has been invited to participate on a 40-member Council for this first of its kind initiative. The newly created Council is a public-private partnership and a multi-year, multi-million-dollar investment to achieve equity in opportunities and to improve the lives of young women of color throughout the state. The group will develop an action plan by April 2017 that identifies and creates opportunities for the advancement of young women.
In addition, the Twin Cities Business Magazine has identified Mayor Emily Larson as one the “Top 100 People to Know in 2017.” The recognition is given to people who are leaders within their organization, have courageously overcome challenges, or are considered up and coming leaders in their fields.
“I am honored to be selected by Governor Dayton and Twin Cities Business Magazine as a leader who represents the needs and opportunities of women and business. This recognition reflects the hard work of our community and the many accomplishments we achieved together. I look forward to adding my voice as we advance opportunities for women while also growing our economy in partnership with Duluth and throughout the state,” said Mayor Larson.
