INCIDENT LOCATION: Duluth Area

Late this morning after school was in session, the Duluth Police Department received notification from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension that there was a threat against a school in Northern Minnesota.  This threat did not identify a specific school or location.  As a precautionary measure, Police Chief Mike Tusken and Superintendent Bill Gronseth evaluated potential responses.  Due to the veiled threat and the need to balance school safety with the importance of maintaining the educational process, Duluth Police officers were deployed to public, private and parochial schools within the city of Duluth.  No further information is available at this time and the incident is under investigation.
