SUBJECT: Second Street road construction to begin next week.

City of Duluth announces street reconditioning of Second Street from 4th Avenue East to 12th Avenue East
The City of Duluth would like to inform motorists of the upcoming commencement of construction for the reconditioning of Second Street from 4th Avenue East to 12th Avenue East. The first phase of street improvements, which is scheduled to begin the week of April 19th, will include the Second Street parking lane and lower traffic lane. When construction of the lower portion of the road is complete then the upper traffic lanes will be closed. The second phase of this project will include 12th Avenue East to 21st Avenue East. Informational signs providing motorists aid in navigating around the SMDC campus will be erected.
Motorists should be advised that although Second Street will remain open to traffic we ask motorists to:
Stay alert
Watch for signs, equipment and workers
Minimize distractions such as using cell phones, eating or drinking
Avoid tailgating
Follow posted speed limits; fines double in work zones
Stay in one lane while driving through a work zone.
