INCIDENT LOCATION: Downtown Duluth, Canal Park, DECC
Beginning at 8:30 am this Saturday, April 17th, 2010, traffic along East Superior Street, Lake Avenue, and Railroad Street in the downtown area will be diverted for the Fitger's 5K Foot Race.
Temporary “No Parking” areas have been posted on the lower side of Superior Street between Lake Avenue and 8th Avenue East, and on South Lake Avenue between Railroad Street and the Aerial Lift Bridge. Violators will be tagged and towed.
Traffic delays will occur for about one hour. Westbound Superior Street traffic will be diverted between 8th Avenue East and 4th Avenue East, while eastbound traffic will be diverted between Lake Avenue and 8th Avenue East. The East side of Lake Avenue over I-35 will also be closed for the race and traffic diverted. The entrance ramp to northbound I-35 from Lake Avenue as well as the Lake Avenue exit from southbound I-35 will be closed. Railroad Street will be closed between Garfield Avenue and Lake Avenue. Motorists are asked to plan accordingly and take alternative routes.
Motorists may experience delays in getting to the Fitger's complex and Pickwick area. The only access to the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) will be on 5th Avenue West while the only access to Canal Park will be on Lake Avenue.
Motorists are asked to be alert for officers directing traffic in the Downtown and Canal Park area, as well as around the DECC.
