INCIDENT LOCATION: Downtown Duluth
On Sunday, February 5th, 2017 at 7:49 p.m., Duluth Police responded to a local hospital facility after receiving information of a 19 year old male victim being admitted with an apparent gunshot wound.
Duluth Police Investigators determined the shootings took place from one moving vehicle into another moving vehicle. A suspect vehicle followed the victim vehicle from downtown Duluth onto I-35. Shots were fired from the suspect’s vehicle towards the victim vehicle striking a 19 year old male passenger. A disabled vehicle, determined to be the suspect vehicle, was located unoccupied a short distance from the Can of Worms on Highway 53. According to a witness, they saw individuals running from the suspect vehicle. In addition, Duluth Police Patrol Officers located the victim vehicle in the area of 27th Avenue West and Michigan Street. Investigators believe the occupants of the victim vehicle and the suspect vehicle were known to each other and a motive is not yet clear. Duluth Police are following up on numerous investigative leads and have identified persons of interest in this case. At this time we are unable to provide the identification of those persons to the public.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting incident. Duluth Police Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance with any information relating to this case.
