SUBJECT: Male Arrested on a Felony Warrant and Firearm Charges

INCIDENT LOCATION: 1100 block of 87th Avenue West in Duluth

On Friday, February 17th, 2017 at 1:38 a.m. Duluth Police responded to a residence in the 1100 block of 87th Avenue West after receiving information that an individual residing there had a felony warrant. Officers arrived at that location and observed a vehicle belonging to the male with the warrant. An officer observed the male with the warrant inside the residence. The male with the warrant came to the back door and refused to open. Officers made entry into the residence and the male attempted to flee out the front door but was arrested by waiting officers. The male was identified as 35-year-old Ryan Lahti of Duluth. A search warrant was executed at the address after officers noticed a loaded magazine from a firearm in plain view. Lahti is prohibited from owning firearms based on his prior criminal convictions. A firearm and ammunition were located in the room of Lahti. Lahti was transported to the St. Louis County Jail on the felony warrant. He is facing possible charges for felon in possession of a firearm and 5th degree possession of a controlled substance. The Duluth Police Department aggressively investigates individuals who illegally possess firearms.
