SUBJECT: Heroin Drug Dealer Arrested and Formally Charged in Saint Louis District Court

On Monday, February 27th, 2017, Investigators from the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2600 block of West 4th Street.  The search warrant was the result of an investigation into the suspected sale of controlled substances by a male at that address.  During the investigation, Task Force Investigators witnessed a male conducting suspected drug transactions outside of the house.

During the search investigators recovered approximately 56 grams of heroin, a digital scale, U.S. currency and a loaded handgun.  Investigators arrested 22 year old Tyler Joseph Bizal, of Duluth who was taken to the St. Louis County Jail.  On Thursday, March 2nd, Bizal was formally charged by the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office with 1st Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.  Bail was set for Bizal at $125,000.

Tyler Bizal has convictions in Minnesota for 3rd Degree Assault and 3rd Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance.  Bizal’s 3rd Degree Assault conviction was the result of an incident on April 16, 2015, when Bizal stabbed a male in the chest at an apartment in the 100 block of West 4th Street in Duluth.  Bizal was sentenced on September 25, 2015 to 3 years of supervised probation with credit for time served at the St. Louis County Jail.  While on probation for his 3rd Degree Assault conviction, Bizal was arrested by the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force on March 14, 2016 for 2nd Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance.  During that investigation Task Force investigators recovered heroin and U.S. Currency during the execution of a search warrant at an apartment in the 10 block of West 4th Street in Duluth.  Bizal was convicted for 3rd Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance for that incident and on January 27, 2017 he was sentenced to 5 years in prison, with credit for time served, and the prison sentence was stayed for 5 years of supervised probation.

At the time of Bizal’s latest arrest on February 27, 2017 by the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, Bizal was on supervised probation for his 3rd Degree Assault and 3rd Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance convictions.
