On Wednesday, April 19th, 2017, the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 600 block of East 3rd Street, a motor vehicle and 28 year old Arthur Wendell Barksdale, of Duluth. The search warrant was the result of an investigation into the suspected sale of controlled substances, specifically heroin, by Barksdale. The search warrant was also related to the ongoing efforts to respond to the recent increase in overdoses related to the use of heroin combined with fentanyl. During the search investigators recovered approximately 4.5 grams of heroin, marijuana, a digital scale, drug packaging and other drug paraphernalia. Investigators arrested Barksdale and lodged him at the St. Louis County Jail.
On Friday, April 21st, 2017, Arthur Barksdale was formally charged by the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office with 2nd Degree Sale of a Controlled Substance. Barksdale’s bail was set at $30,000.
