MEMORIAL DAY PARADE / GARY-NEW DULUTH VETERAN'S MEMORIAL TRAFFIC ADVISORY

West Duluth - 12:30 p.m. start time / Gary New Duluth- 9:00 a.m. start time

 

Memorial Day Parade:

  • Parade units will line up on 59th Avenue West between Raleigh Street and Grand Avenue beginning at 10:30 a.m.  The parade begins at approximately 12:30 p.m.

 

  • Parade Route:  Starting at 59th Ave W & Grand Avenue, traveling East on Grand Avenue Ave to Central Avenue, South to Ramsey Street turning left to disband on Ramsey Street.

 

  • The parade units will use all of Grand Avenue from 59th Ave West to Central Avenue.

 

  • All traffic will be detoured off of Grand Avenue during the parade between 59th Ave West and Ramsey Street starting at 12:00 p.m.  Eastbound traffic on Grand Avenue will be detoured North on 59th Ave West to 8th Street or Cody Street to continue East.  Westbound Grand Avenue traffic will be detoured up Central Avenue.

 

  • -All avenues and exits onto Grand between 59th Ave West and Central Avenue will be closed during the Parade.

 

  • -59th Ave West will be blocked from Grand Avenue to Raleigh Street for the Parade line-up area starting at 10:30.

 

  • No parking will be allowed on either side of Grand Avenue along the parade route.  "No parking" signs will be posted along this route.  Vehicles in violation will be tagged and towed.  Motorists should be alert to detours and officers directing traffic.

 

  • DTA buses will use Cody Street as the East/West detour route.

 

The Gary- New Duluth Veteran's Memorial Ceremony:

  • The parade will start at 9:00 a.m.  Stowe Street between Commonwealth Avenue and 101st Ave W will be closed to traffic for this event, from 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

 

Drivers are urged to drive with caution in the area of these events, watch for barricades and pedestrians.
