Street painting scheduled to start in May
In coordination with street maintenance and street sweeping, the City of Duluth will be long line (centerline/ Edge line) striping in various areas throughout the city starting in early May. Painting should be completed by early fall, weather permitting.
City crews will be testing paint in the Lakeside area then striping the following priority areas to start:
- Canal Park, around the arena, and over 5th Ave West
- Railroad Street
- All of downtown from Mesabi Ave to 6th Ave East from 4th Street down
- 21st, 24th, and 26th Ave East
- 21st, 24th, and 27th Ave West
- 40th and 46th Ave West
- Grand Ave and parts of Woodland Ave (that is not under construction) as well as the Woodland neighborhood
- Kenwood Ave
- Arrowhead Road
By the end of the summer all city streets will have received a fresh coat of paint. The City will also have crews out repainting legends, crosswalks and stop bars, with the priority being schools and all of downtown followed by the main streets.
The City asks the public to drive safely and observe the cones on center lines and the “skip” lines to avoid wet paint. Motorists are remined to stay at least 50 feet back from the paint vehicle in case of sudden stops and watch for cones at crosswalks and on legends which indicate wet paint. Please observe traffic control to avoid paint tracking or paint transfer onto vehicles.
