Duluth’s Downtown Sidewalk Days & Street Dances will be held July 12th-15th, resulting in the following traffic changes.
Superior Street from Lake Avenue to 5th Avenue West will be closed to all vehicle traffic Wednesday, July 12th thru Friday, July 14th from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. each day. NO PARKING regulations begin at 7:00 a.m. Vehicles will be tagged and are subject to tow. During the Sidewalk Sales, the avenues will remain open to traffic, with the following exceptions:
On Wednesday July 12th, from 3:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. the Superior Street closure and NO PARKING regulations will expand to 5th Ave W to 3rd Ave E to facilitate the Kolar Classic Car Show. During this time, all avenues will be closed to traffic down to Superior Street, EXCEPT 3rd Ave East, Lake Avenue, and 5th Ave West which will remain open for access down to Michigan Street. Superior Street should be open to traffic by 9:00 p.m.
On Friday, July 14th, from 6:00 p.m. to 12 midnight, 1st Street between 1st Ave West and 2nd Ave West will be barricaded and closed to any traffic. They will be posted “No Parking After 5:00 p.m.” for the Aces Street Dance. Vehicles parked in violation will be tagged and subject to tow.
On Saturday, July 15th from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight, the 100 block of West Superior Street between 1st Ave W and 2nd Ave W will be barricaded to any traffic and posted “No Parking After 4:00 p.m.” for the Dubh Linn’s Irish Pub Street Dance. Vehicles parked in violation will be tagged and subject to tow.

Eastbound Buses: Buses will turn down 5th Ave W and continue East on Michigan Street to the Duluth Transportation Center. From DTA buses will continue on Michigan Street turning up 1st Ave East to Superior Street during the Sidewalk Sale Days Event, and turning up 3rd Avenue East during Wednesday evening’s Car Show (starting at 3:30 p.m.)
Westbound Buses: During the Sidewalk Sale, event buses heading west along East Superior Street will turn up 1st Avenue East to 1st Street. During Wednesday’s Car Show (starting at 3:30 p.m.) buses will use 1st Street from 3rd Avenue East. All buses will continue West on 1st Street to 4th Ave West (5th Avenue West during Car Show) then to Michigan Street and the Duluth Transportation Center. From DTC westbound buses will continue on Michigan Street to 1st Avenue West, right on 1st Ave West to the Freeway Frontage Road, to 5th Avenue West, to West Superior Street and will continue on regular route to points farther west.
Port Town Trolley: During the Sidewalk Sales Event from Canal Park the trolley will use Lake Avenue to 1st Street to 5th Avenue West to Superior Street, to 6th Avenue West, to the Depot and then regular route.
The Friday Night Street Dances will not affect DTA routes.
For Saturday’s Street Dance, beginning at 5:00 p.m., eastbound buses will use regular route to the Duluth Transportation Center. From DTC buses will use Michigan Street, to 1st Avenue West to Superior Street and regular route. Westbound Buses from East Superior Street buses will take 1st Ave West up to 1st Street, to 2nd Ave West, to Superior Street, to 3rd Avenue West, to Michigan Street to the Duluth Transportation Center and regular route.
Watch for posted NO PARKING signs for temporary bus stops on Michigan and 1st Street.
Please be alert to pedestrian traffic, barricaded roadways, posted “no parking areas”, and police officers directing traffic during these events.
