News Conference with Mayor Emily Larson and the Urban Forest Commission

Monday, July 17, 2017 at 12:30 PM

Location: Intersection of St. Paul Ave & Anoka St. in the Woodland neighborhood

[Duluth, MN] - Mayor Emily Larson, members of the Urban Forest Commission and City staff will hold a news conference on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 12:30 PM, at the intersection of St. Paul Ave and Anoka Street, to announce strategies to curb and manage Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) infestation in the City of Duluth in accordance with the City's Emerald Ash Borer Management Plan.

EAB was discovered in the City of Duluth in October 2015 on Park Point but has since been discovered elsewhere. As a result, the City is embarking on an awareness campaign to educate and engage residents to protect ash trees and prevent the spread of EAB. A public information meeting is also planned for July 20 at 7 pm in the Hartley Nature Center. The Management Plan is available for review at http://duluthmn.gov/parks/parks-planning/invasive-species/

Mayor Larson, Mike Pennington with the Urban Forest Commission, and Erik Birkeland, City Property and Facilities Manager, will provide information and will be available to take questions from the media.
