4th Street Pavement and Sidewalk Improvement Update as of July 21
[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is making progress on improvements to the sidewalks and pavement along 4th Street between Mesaba Ave and 6th Ave East. The work is being done under traffic with the exception of brief closures at the intersections. In particular, the intersection at 4th ave West will need to be closed this weekend as repairs are needed for a failing catch basin. Crews will need to close 4th Ave West at Mesaba Ave for repairs starting tomorrow, July 22 through July 28th. Southbound Mesaba Ave traffic will not have access to 4th Ave West exit and will need to use 2nd Ave West or another route.
In addition, the contractor is scheduled to perform a chip seal on Wednesday, July 26th, beginning at 9 pm and will work through the night until Thursday 6 am. When the chip seal commences, 4th Street will be closed to traffic from Mesaba Ave to 6th Ave East but should be ready for vehicle traffic by 6 am. Completion is dependent on fair weather conditions. Emergency vehicles will be allowed access.
The entire project should be completed by August 11, barring any weather related delays.
Questions about the project can be directed to Duncan Schwensohn at dschwensohn@DuluthMN.gov
