Gas Main Project to Start Next Week on London Road

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth will be working on a gas main replacement on London Road starting August 14, 2017. The purpose of this project is to replace an aging steel gas main with a plastic main which will be capable of operating at a higher pressure.  The location of the pipe replacement is in the north shoulder of London Road between 35^th Avenue East and 40^th Avenue East.  No natural gas customers will have service impacts during this project.

Traffic control for the project will go up on Monday August 14^th as well as some erosion control setup. The pipeline construction will begin on Tuesday August 15^th and is expected to be ongoing until the first part of October. 

Motorists can expect lane restrictions. The traffic control will shift the west bound traffic, coming into Duluth, into the center turn lane of London Road.  The lanes will be separated with delineators during the entire project and for a couple of weeks, 36^th Avenue East and 40^th Avenue East will each be closed at the London Road intersection. Motorists are encouraged to use 32^nd Avenue East and 43^rd Avenue East as alternatives which will be signed detours.
