INCIDENT LOCATION: 511 Anderson Road
At 09:49 hours today, the Duluth Fire Department responded to report of a structure fire at 511 Anderson Road. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire in the upstairs of a 1 1/2 story single family home. Crews made entry into the home while ventilating the roof, and were able to extinguish the fire quickly. Primary and secondary searches were completed, and it was confirmed no one was home at the time of the fire.
The fire extended into the floor/ceiling assembly, and into the main floor kitchen. Heavy smoke damage throughout the home. Initial damage estimates are $40,000 for the structure and $30,000 for contents.
One firefighter was injured during the initial fire attack and is under observation at a local hospital. The Duluth Fire Marshal's office is investigating as to origin and cause of the fire.
Fire companies from Headquarters Station, Miller Mall Station, and UMD Station responded to the fire. DPD was also on scene assisting.
