Aerial Lift Bridge Transitions to Regular Operating Schedule Through End of Shipping Season


[Duluth, MN] - The Aerial Lift Bridge will be transitioning out of its summer lift schedule starting Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Bridge Operators will no longer be lifting on the half hour and full hour and will instead be lifting the Aerial Lift Bridge based on requests from water vessel operators for the rest of the shipping season. The summer schedule usually runs from the Friday before Memorial Day until the day after Labor Day.

 

Motorists should be aware that bridge inspection is scheduled for September 11-12, which will close one lane and the adjacent pedestrian lane during the inspection. Traffic will be reduced to one lane and passage of vehicles will be managed by the Bridge signal lights. This work will occur during the day working around heavy commute times. During the evening hours, both lanes will reopen.
