City working to correct minor sanitary sewer release on Park Point  

 

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth Public Works and Utilities has identified minor sanitary sewer releases on Minnesota Ave from 18th Street to 20th Street is working to address the situation. These releases are a result of high levels of ground water that is infiltrating into the sanitary sewer from the near record levels of Lake Superior. The public should avoid coming into contact with standing water as a precaution.

 

The City is actively working to correct the situation through different measures that include inflow and Infiltration reductions on the public and privately owned sewer infrastructure and upgrades to the sanitary piping system on Minnesota Ave including a planned sewer lining this fall. Residents should also check their sump pumps to ensure they are in proper working order.
