 Deck Replacement on Aerial Lift Bridge Starts January 25

 

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is working with Redstone Construction to replace the deck on the iconic Aerial Lift Bridge starting January 25, 2018. The deck was replaced in the mid 1950's and has suffered wear and tear over the years. The project involves replacing 25 feet of the Bridge deck at both ends. The project is anticipated to be complete March 2nd and will cost about $296,000.  

 

As the work commences, only one driving lane and the adjacent pedestrian walkway on the Bridge will be open. The project will result in reduced traffic flow to a single lane with signal controls directing incoming and outgoing vehicle traffic from Park Point. The sidewalk that passes under the Bridge will be closed to pedestrians. The Aerial Lift Bridge will not be raised for marine traffic during this project period. The City requests that residents plan  additional time when traveling to or from Park Point.
