Cold Front February Unites Duluth Community
[Duluth, MN] – What initially was meant to be a 4-day kickoff celebration in Duluth has now expanded into a citywide celebration of all things winter! Duluth’s first Cold Front February kickoff celebration is taking shape with final details in order; the ice track is constructed; vendors secured; and the forecast will be cold! Duluth is excited for the drop in temperatures as it gets ready for its inaugural Cold Front February celebration that kicks off February 1-4. The excitement is pervasive as hotels, retailers, restaurants, and local businesses and organizations are offering their own Cold Front specials during the kick off weekend and throughout the month of February. The official kick off and celebration grounds will be based in Canal Park but the fun will be spread throughout the city.
“The support and interest in Cold Front is amazing. Everyone involved has been working hard and are great ambassadors for our city. We are embracing our bold winter character and sharing it with everyone. Our goal is to activate and motivate Duluth residents of all ages and abilities in this community space in Canal Park. We have something for everyone to enjoy. All you to have to do is show up,” said City Council President Elissa Hansen.
The activities will connect residents from west to east and enliven an underutilized public space during one of Duluth’s traditionally coldest months. A parking lot in Canal Park is being transformed into a winter play scape offering a snow play hill, ice track, curling rink, s’mores, pop-up retailers, a craft beer and food tent, and free entertainment & music. The entire event is family friendly with free trolley service provided by the Duluth Transit Authority from downtown and Lincoln Park.
