SUBJECT: Denfeld High School Threats Incident

On Friday March 2, 2018 a Denfeld student made comments overheard by another student about shooting up the school.  Duluth Police were made aware of these threats on Sunday evening March 4, 2018 and immediately began an investigation.  Officers were able to quickly identify the individual who made the initial threats.  Today March 5, 2018 in the early morning hours Duluth Police Investigators made contact with the juvenile who admitted to making the threats but was adamant they were just messing around.  The juvenile’s home was searched and the family is cooperating with the investigation.  The Duluth Police Department will be forwarding this case to the St. Louis County Juvenile Attorney’s Office for a possible charge of Threats of Violence.  At this time the Duluth Police Department does not believe there are any other threats to Denfeld based on this incident.
