Duluth icons to go dark for Earth Hour on March 24

[Duluth, MN] – The City of Duluth will participate along with millions around the world on Saturday March 24, 2018 from 8:30 to 9:30 PM to commemorate Earth Hour. For one hour, the lights on the Aerial Lift Bridge and Enger Tower will be turned off as a demonstration of our support and commitment for sustainable practices to protect the environment and precious natural resources.

The public is encouraged to participate in this annual global event with a simple flip of the switch.

Mayor Emily Larson is encouraging the public to do their part: “It takes a simple act to make a huge impact. Turning off lights as you leave a room helps conserve energy but also saves money in the long run. Here at the City of Duluth, we are taking care of our Earth by reducing carbon emissions by 15% this year alone with changes in our city buildings and at the Duluth Energy Systems steam plant. Taking care of this one corner of the earth we live in does not have to be complicated but it starts at home.”
