"50 Voices for 50 Years" Event on April 4

 

[Duluth, MN] - The Duluth and Twin Ports community are invited to gather, remember and honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the 50th anniversary of his death. Duluth City Hall will be the backdrop for the anniversary event titled, "50 Voices for 50 Years." Community members will celebrate and honor Dr. King’s legacy and wisdom with a special commemorative reading of 50 of his memorable and impactful statements.

Wednesday, April 4th

Noon-1 PM

Duluth City Hall front steps (facing Priley Drive)

 

Mayor Emily Larson will make opening remarks along with Carl Crawford, the City’s Human Rights Officer, followed by brief readings from  numerous community members.

 

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968, yet his legacy lives on in the youth and adults who carry on his work for racial equality and justice today. The Duluth event is modeled after other national events taking place during the commemorative week.
