Duluth to Hold Kick off Event for Superior Street Reconstruction on April 12

 

[Duluth, MN] – The City of Duluth is excited to kickoff the transformation of downtown Duluth with a special “Kick up the Bricks” event on April 12 at 11 AM right outside the downtown Duluth Library on Superior Street at 5th Ave West. Superior Street will undergo construction in three phases over the next three construction seasons with new improved utilities, energy efficient closed loop hot water heat system and streetscape amenities that cater to more pedestrian activity and enjoyment. The first phase extends from 7th Ave West to just before the intersection of 3rd Ave West. The contractor is ready to commence on April 16, with the road closure planned for April 17. The public will see signage placed around downtown this week.

 

The public is invited to attend the kickoff event which will include speeches from Mayor Emily Larson, Kristi Stokes with the Greater Downtown Council, Duluth Energy Systems and several other key partners of the project.

 

A reception will follow the program with music, food and beverages provided courtesy of LHB Corp and the Greater Downtown Council.
