Street Improvements Starting in Several Duluth Neighborhoods on June 11

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth Public Works and Utilities department will be reconditioning and/or paving several Duluth streets starting Monday, June 11, 2018. In addition to improved driving surfaces, some of the areas will see improved ADA accessibility, sidewalks, storm sewer and curb and gutter. The work is expected to be substantially complete by August 24. There will be some minor work to follow up at each project site but no streets will be closed to traffic.

The following 2018 Street Preservation projects with a June 11 approximate start date are:

West Duluth: Highland Street between N 57th Ave W and N. Central Ave.; Bristol Ave from N. Central Ave. to approximately 1000 feet east; and N. Central Ave from Highland St. to W. 8th Street

Woodland: W. Anoka St. between Maxwell Ave. and Woodland Ave.;  Maxwell St. between W. Redwing Street and W. Anoka Street

Woodland/Congdon: Clover St. between Woodland Ave. and E. 8th Street; E. 8th St. from E. Clover Street to Wallace Ave. (below Bluestone Commons).

East Hillside/Chester Park: East 8th/9th Street (between 6th Ave E. and Woodland Ave) Reconditioning - July 9th approximate start date, completion in September.

The roads listed will be open to local traffic and businesses. There should be no delays with garbage collection or deliveries. Motorists should expect some uneven pavement at times, short delays, and the presence of temporary flaggers during milling and reclamation operations. There will be work at each intersection on the pedestrian ramps so there will be traffic control in place and workers on site.

Please exercise caution when going through the construction areas.

Track these and other road closures on the City of Duluth website, http://duluthmn.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=24ea9af832db49259a9038ab1a3981eb If you have any questions or comments, please contact Patrick Loomis by email, ploomis@duluthmn.gov or call (218) 730-5094.
