Utility Work Planned on Lalkwalk Trail August 30
[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth Public Works and Utilities Department is working with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to prevent future clogs in the storm drain system downtown and will be temporarily closing a portion of the Lakewalk Trail on Thursday, August 30, 2018. Crews will install a new steel grate on the lake facing end of the storm drain pipe which runs under I 35 and the Lakewalk Trail and poses challenges during major rainfall events as waves push rocks further into the pipe. This new grate should help in preventing rocks from entering the pipe.
Crews will plan to work from 8 am until 4 pm and plans to have the trail open for public access in the late afternoon. The Lakewalk Trail will be temporarily closed to the public from Endion Station to the veterans memorials. The public is asked to follow the established detour route into Lake Place Park. The completion of this project is dependent on good weather and lake conditions.
