Sidewalk closed on west side of Minnesota Slip Bridge
[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth is informing the public that the sidewalk leading up to and abutting the Minnesota Slip Bridge in Canal Park is currently closed. The seawall restoration work unintentionally disturbed underlying fill below the concrete slab causing a washout. The sidewalk's stability was compromised and the City closed the sidewalk immediately. The City and its contractor are working with expediency to fortify the soil, restore the slab and reopen the sidewalk for public use. This work will likely continue into next week.
During this closure, public access to Canal Park will be to use Railroad Street headed east to S. Lake Ave. To get to the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center (DECC) area, the public can take S. Lake Ave north then making a left turn at Railroad Street. The Duluth Transit Authority is also running their Port Town trolley as an alternate option, http://www.duluthtransit.com/content/pdf/schedules/trolley_schedule.pdf
The City appreciates the patience and cooperation of the public and will provide updates as work progresses.
