Public Open House to Review Glenwood Street Corridor Traffic Study

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth will be hosting a public open house meeting September 19th at 5:30 PM to share traffic study updates for the Glenwood Street Corridor. The City hired a traffic consultant to study the Glenwood Corridor from the intersection of Jean Duluth/Snively Road to 43rd Avenue East. That study is now ready for public review and feedback.

This traffic study stems from a community meeting held in the fall of 2016 to discuss traffic safety concerns along Glenwood Street. Following that meeting, the City installed signage, street lighting, and cleared some brush to improve the area around the intersections of West Skyline Parkway and South Ridge, which was highlighted as an area of concern. The City then hired a traffic consultant to further study the corridor to provide additional recommendations. The traffic consultant has completed their study and has prepared short and long-term recommendations for improvements along this stretch of roadway. The City is looking to implement short-term improvements in the Spring of 2019 that addresses speed, safety, multi-modal accommodations and traffic flow.

The open house will be held at the Lester Park Elementary School (5300 Glenwood Street) in the Media Center on Wednesday, September 19 from 5:30 to 7 PM.  A short, 10-minute presentation will be given at 5:30 pm, followed by an open house format so attendees can look at layouts, leave comments, and address individual questions. The public is welcome to attend anytime between 5:30 and 7 pm.

Anyone not able to attend the meeting but has questions or is in need of additional information, should contact Taryn Erickson at tjerickson@duluthmn.gov by September 28, 2018.
