Minnesota Slip Bridge to be Pinned in Up Position September 18-21

[Duluth, MN] - The City of Duluth and the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center anticipates moving the William A. Irvin ship out of the Minnesota Slip to Fraser Shipyard in Superior sometime between Tuesday, September 18 and Friday, September 21. The move is necessary for restoration and repairs of the historic vessel but is dependent on calm winds and lake conditions, as the ship has no propulsion mechanisms. In preparation for the Irvin's move, on a day yet to be determined, the City will need to pin the Minnesota Slip Bridge in the up position starting September 18 and would resume operations after the Irvin’s departure. Access across the slip is available by taking South Lake Ave north to Railroad Street. A public notice will be issued prior to the departure of the William A. Irvin.
