Secretary of State Simon and Mayor Emily Larson Launch Early Voting

National Voter Registration Day is September 25

[Duluth, MN] – The Secretary of State, Mayor Emily Larson and Duluth City Clerk Chelsea Helmer are working together to encourage all Duluth citizens to stay informed, get involved and to get out and vote! Voting has never been easier with recent changes expanding absentee voting and the development of a new state website, mnvotes.org. Minnesota communities saw record voter turnout in the August primary which is the highest since 1982 and all indicators point to even higher numbers for November 6.

“We are committed to ensuring that every eligible voter gets the information they need to be informed and participate. I’m especially excited that we have City Clerk Helmer who is instilling new energy into the voting process and reaching out to many constituency groups. Duluthians understand civic engagement and the significance of this social responsibility. I have no doubt that we will see historic voter participation on November 6. We thank Secretary Simon for his work and for joining us in Duluth today. So, get out and vote, then take a selfie and share it with us using #duluthvotes,” said Mayor Emily Larson.

“The polls are open! I am fired up by the enthusiasm Minnesotans showed in the primary – voters from across the political spectrum are showing up in droves to cast their ballots,” said Secretary Simon. “That enthusiasm reminds us how special Minnesota is when it comes to voting. At a time when American democracy is being threatened, our state can and should continue to lead the nation and serve as a national model for secure and participatory elections.”

Here’s some helpful information for new and returning voters according to City Clerk Helmer.
