Duluth Community to Celebrate Indigenous People's History, Culture and Contributions
[Duluth, MN] - The Duluth community and the Duluth Indigenous Commission will recognize and celebrate Indigenous peoples, culture, history and contributions at two public events! On Monday, October 8, 2018, the community will gather at Duluth City Hall (front steps) at Noon with remarks from elders, performers and a Mayoral proclamation.
Following that event, the Indigenous Commission will be hosting their annual Feast and Forum on October 11 from 6 -9 pm. The Feast and Forum will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Dr. Robert Powless Cultural Center (AICHO/Trepanier Hall), 212 W. Second St. in Duluth, from 6:00-9:00PM. This yearly celebration is open to the public where all participants can bring a dish to share food, wisdom and discuss the important issues facing our Indigenous Community today. The topics will address issues of decolonizing our thoughts and actions and elevating Indigenous visibility throughout the City of Duluth.
