Duluth Workforce Center to Host Information Session on Building Trades Apprenticeships

[Duluth, MN] – Carpenters, pipefitters, electricians, iron workers and roofers are just a few of the crafts offering apprenticeship opportunities for those interested in a career in the building trades. The Duluth Workforce Center is hosting an information session on November 13, 2018 at 10 AM in their office, located at 402 West First Street in downtown Duluth, as part of “National Apprenticeship Week.” The construction trades are in need of more skilled workers as additional projects come on line in Duluth and surrounding areas.

Apprenticeships enable earn-while-you-learn skill building through on the job training and classroom instruction that leads individuals into highly skilled, well paid and in demand jobs. For example, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU) projects a 6% growth in the electrician field which pays a median hourly rate of $34 while pipefitters will see a 13% growth rate and currently pays a median hourly rate of $33. Representatives from the various trades will be on hand to answer questions and talk about the apprenticeship application process. The Duluth Workforce Center also has Employment Technicians who can assist with identifying skills and interests, resume building and interview preparation to ensure success.
