Mayor Emily Larson Announces New Community Relations Officer

[Duluth, MN] Mayor Emily Larson announced today the hiring of a new Community Relations Officer, Alicia Kozlowski.

The Community Relations Officer plays a critical role in ensuring Duluthians have access to City resources and services, serves as a liaison between the Mayor’s office and City departments, other governmental agencies, and community organizations.

“I am thrilled to work with Alicia,” states Mayor Larson. “She was selected from over 80 qualified, impressive applicants and brings tremendous experiences, skills, and insights to our work. Born and raised in the West End neighborhood of Duluth, Alicia’s story is our story. She understands this community – our strengths, our challenges – and is ready to dig in. Alicia will be an asset to everything we do.”

"I am very proud and enthusiastic about the opportunity to join the City of Duluth’s team and to serve our incredible community,” states Alicia. “It is an honor to step into this important work with Mayor Larson, City staff and our community to serve the best interests of Duluth, with a focus on harnessing the unique strengths of our people and resources, to move us towards the equitable and sustainable future we all want. Duluth is on the rise and I cannot wait to get started on our momentous work to uplift on our entire community."

Alicia comes to the City of Duluth from her former employer, The College of St. Scholastica, where she most recently served as the Registrar Generalist. Alicia holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership and Change. She serves as a Core Council Leader of the KwePack, an Indigenous women’s running group. She enjoys soccer, broomball, and ultra-running.

Alicia replaces Phil Jents, who served as Community Relations Officer beginning in 2016, and who now serves as the City’s Communications and Policy Officer.
