The City of Duluth is Seeking Applicants to Fill Vacant Seats on the Energy Plan Commission
[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth is seeking applicants to fill vacant seats on the Energy Plan Commission. Applications can be submitted now through May 15th, 2019 at the following link:

The City Council established the Energy Plan Commission to advise the administration and city council on ways to achieve the goal of reducing the city’s greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent by 2050.
Specific responsibilities of the Commission include:
- Develop and recommend policies consistent with the city’s greenhouse gas reduction goals;
- Review and evaluate city’s energy plan and assess whether benchmarks are met;
- Promote the city’s use of clean, renewable energy resources;
- Promote community best practices and strategies for reducing greenhouse gases; and
- Submit a written report by January 31st of each year to the council and mayor on the city’s annual progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, efforts to promote the use of clean, renewable energy resources and efforts to identify community best practices and strategies for reducing greenhouse gases.
Requirements of potential Commissioners include:
- Resident of Duluth
- Broad experience and technical expertise in areas such as renewable energy, conservation, community planning, engineering and architecture
The Commission is seeking seven members whose applications will be accepted online now through May 15, 2019. Of the initial seven commissioners, two shall be appointed for four years, two shall be appointed for three years, and three shall be appointed for two years, thereafter, all appointments shall be for a term of four years. The Mayor subject to confirmation by the City Council shall appoint potential commissioners.
