City of Duluth Performs Maintenance on Natural Gas Line out West
[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth Public Works and Utilities Department will be performing a planned and routine maintenance on a natural gas line in the Irving and Smithville neighborhoods Tuesday, April 23rd. This procedure does not pose a threat to households or businesses in the area. As part of the project, a planned natural gas purge will occur near Recycle Way and Oneota Street. Purging is expected to begin late morning through the evening hours, and may go into Wednesday morning if needed. This maintenance will allow a section of the natural gas main to be relocated to accommodate a construction project this summer.
During this, citizens in the area may hear and/or smell the release of natural gas. The Department is asking anyone observing noises and odors to not to be alarmed, as the City’s operations staff will be closely monitoring the situation, and will be ensuring safety in the immediate area. If residents suspect a leak or unauthorized release of natural gas, please report it by calling 218-730-4100.
