Upper Lakeside Water Main to be Replaced this Summer, Public Meeting Scheduled

The City of Duluth is planning to replace the water main in Crosley Avenue, 47th Avenue East, and Avondale Street this summer.  A public meeting has been scheduled to review the project with residents on May 29th at the Portman Community Center (4061 McCulloch Street) from 6-7 p.m.   The public meeting will include a presentation by City staff that will describe the project and include time for questions.  Discussion topics will include construction agenda, construction timeline, and future goals for the water main.

This water main is being replaced due to multiple breaks per year within the area.  The project will begin at Glenwood Street and 47th Avenue East, then extend up to 47th to Crosley Avenue, then up Crosley Avenue to Avondale Street, then down Avondale Street to 51st Avenue East.

Temporary water will be supplied to all the affected homes for the duration of the project.  Temporary water will be fed from Oakley Street along the undeveloped 48th Avenue East Right of Way.

Construction will take place during late May into August of this year.  All costs associated with the main replacement will be paid by the City of Duluth Water Utility fund. There will not be any assessments or costs to the residents in the area.
