DPL EVENTS MONDAY, JUNE 10 – FRIDAY, JUNE 14

[Duluth, MN] -- All Duluth Public Library events are free and open to the public.

Monday, June 10 at Mt. Royal Branch Library – 105 Mt. Royal Shopping Circle
Gardening with Children – 10:30 am and 6:00 pm: Join us for an engaging hour of stories, songs, and seeds. We will hear stories about the garden, sing songs together, and move our growing bodies. This is a hands-on class, so be prepared to get your hands soiled as you create your own garden to grow at home. *Please bring one or two 2-liter bottles (rinsed clean and labels removed) for use during the class. Presented by St. Louis County Master Gardeners.


Mt. Royal Readers’ Guild – 2:30 – 3:30 pm: Want to join a “secret” readers’ guild? Let’s read Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library together & unlock the secrets through puzzles and activities. Join us! Starting Monday, June 10th we’ll meet once a week and read aloud this great book. Books will be handed out while supplies last.


Monday, June 10 at Bayfront Festival Park – 350 Harbor Drive, Duluth
Bayfront Story and Play - 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Enjoy the summertime views from the Bayfront Family Center with Duluth Parks and Recreation & the Duluth Public Library! We are joining forces to bring you Bayfront Story and Play! Bring your own picnic and blanket and join us for a family story time at Bayfront Park. Stories, songs, and fingerplays will begin at the scheduled time. Families are welcome to play and picnic before and after the storytime. Duluth Parks & Recreation will be there with extra equipment for young children to utilize.

Tuesday, June 11 at Mt. Royal Branch Library – 105 Mt. Royal Shopping Circle
Senior Moments: Different But Delicious – 11:00 am – 12:00 pm: What is celeriac and what do you do with it? How do you use Romanesco? What on earth is jack fruit? In this class you learn about some of the unusual fruits and veggies Whole Foods Co-op has to offer and taste many of them. Be prepared to try something new!

Tuesday, June 11 at West Duluth Branch Library – 5830 Grand Avenue
West Duluth Movies for Seniors: Welcome to Marwen – 1 pm: Join the West Duluth Branch Library and the Evergreen Senior Center for a special summer movie series for Senior Citizens! June 11: Welcome to Marwen - PG-13/Drama/Fantasy/1h 56m. Register online at http://www.duluthlibrary.org.

Wednesday, June 12 at West Duluth Branch Library – 5830 Grand Avenue
Special Musical Storytime with Terrence Smith – 10:30 am: Join us for a special storytime featuring Terrence Smith! Children will enjoy plenty of dancing, singing, and early literacy fun as this storytime is hosted by a musical friend of the library.


Read to a Dog – 3:30 – 4:30 pm: Kids are invited to read a story to a good listener with big ears! These one-on-one read-aloud sessions with a licensed therapy dog are a great way to practice reading in a comfortable, low-stress environment. Drop-in sessions available on a first come first served basis. Games and activities available while you wait.


Wednesday, June 12 at Mt. Royal Branch Library – 105 Mt. Royal Shopping Circle
Healing the Heart with Forks Over Knives – 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm: Dave and Cindy Watson tell the story of how Dave is healing from heart disease and quadruple bypass surgery using a low-fat plant-based diet -- a story of life, health, and love. Presented by the Vegan Cookbook Club.

Thursday, June 13 at West Duluth Branch Library – 5830 Grand Avenue
