Riverside Park Ribbon Cutting for Completion of Phase I to be held on June 25th, 2019

[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to celebrate the completion of Phase I park improvements at Riverside Park with a ribbon cutting on June 25th from 5-7p.m. The ribbon cutting will be followed with outdoor family activities and a kid’s bike parade. Bike decorating will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the park.

Riverside is one of thirteen parks along the St. Louis River Corridor that was identified as part of the larger St. Louis River Corridor Initiative. These parks are eligible for designated 1/2 and 1/2 tourism tax funds, which is the fund that was used for Phase I of the Riverside Park Improvement Project.

Riverside Park improvements were selected and designed based on the 2016 council-approved Mini-Master Plan and subsequent consultation with the Riverside Community Club. Phase I of this project included the replacement of the existing playground, tree planting, half-court basketball court, porta-potty slab with a screen and new grills, benches and picnic tables.

A $10,000 neighborhood match was met through cash, materials and in-kind volunteer labor from the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), Riverside Community Club, Spirit Valley Land Company and Duluth Community Garden Program.
