SUBJECT: High-risk search warrant results in seizure of body armor, guns, drugs, and cash

[DULUTH, MN] On June 7th, 2019, investigators from the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, Duluth Police Tactical Response Team, Northwest Area Crime Unit (Wisconsin), St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Superior Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) executed a search warrant at a residence on the 1300 block of East 2nd Street in the City of Duluth. During the search investigators located cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, ecstasy pills, along with other evidence of drug sales. Additionally, investigators seized four firearms, ammunition and two sets of body armor. Police arrested Carter Ryan Galo, 23, of Duluth.
On June 11th, Galo was charged by the Saint Louis County Attorney’s Office with 1st Degree Sale of Cocaine While Possessing a Firearm, 3rd Degree Sale of Fentanyl, 3rd Degree Sale of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Bullet Resistant Vest (Body Armor) While Committing a Felony, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
This high-risk search warrant execution is another excellent example of the multi-agency collaboration necessary to solve the opioid epidemic in our region.
