SUBJECT: Two charged with felony for drug sale in a park zone

[DULUTH, MN] On June 11th 2019, Investigators from the Duluth Police Department Community Policing Unit, Superior Police Department and the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force detained a male at “The Wall”, 3400 West Skyline Parkway, identified as Stanley Cornett Jr. Cornett Jr., 34, of Superior, was detained pursuant to a search warrant obtained by Duluth Police allowing for a search of Cornett’s person and his motor vehicle. The Community Policing Unit had been investigating Cornett after receiving information from concerned citizens that Cornett was selling marijuana to juveniles and adults at The Wall. When Cornett was detained by police he was in the act of conducting a drug sale.
During a search of Cornett’s vehicle and person police recovered 54 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, drug packaging and $338 U.S. currency. Also detained with Cornett was Zandel Douglas Morgan, 29, of Superior. During a search of Morgan’s vehicle police recovered 18 grams of marijuana wax and drug paraphernalia. Cornett and Morgan were both arrested by Duluth Police.
Superior Police Department Narcotics Unit and Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force executed a follow up search warrant at Cornett’s residence in the 1500 block of John Avenue in Superior. During the search of Cornett’s residence police recovered approximately five pounds of marijuana, $3,200 U.S. Currency and a loaded handgun.
On June 13th, Cornett and Morgan were both formally charged in St. Louis County Court with 4th Degree Sale of Marijuana in a Park Zone, a felony. Cornett and Morgan’s bail were both set at $5,000 with no conditions or $0 bail with conditions. Pending extradition to Wisconsin, Cornett will be charged in Douglas County Court with Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon Out of State Conviction, felony. Cornett has two previous convictions from 2006 in Illinois for felony Manufacture / Deliver Control Substances.
