Monday, June 24 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street

Book Bingo – 12:00  - 1:00  pm: If you like bingo, you’ll love book bingo – instead of numbers we draw book titles!  Play to win a gift card to Barnes & Noble.

Chasing the Moon – 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Together with PBS North and author Bob King, DPL is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing! Bob will share how to explore the wonders of the moon from your front yard. He'll also talk about the Apollo missions and NASA's plan to return there in 2024. Afterward, catch an advanced screening of “Chasing the Moon” a three-part miniseries from American Experience premiering July 8th on PBS North. You'll also be able to touch a real moon rock! Monday, June 24 at Mt. Royal Branch Library – 105 Mt. Royal Shopping Circle
Mt. Royal Readers’ Guild – 2:30 – 3:30 pm: Want to join a “secret” readers’ guild? Let’s read Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library together & unlock the secrets through puzzles and activities. Join us! Starting Monday, June 10th we’ll meet once a week and read aloud this great book. Books will be handed out while supplies last. 

Monday, June 24 at Bayfront Festival Park – 350 Harbor Drive, Duluth
Bayfront Story and Play – 6 pm – 7 pm: Enjoy the summertime views from the Bayfront Family Center with Duluth Parks and Recreation & the Duluth Public Library! We are joining forces to bring you Bayfront Story and Play! Bring your own picnic and blanket and join us for a family story time at Bayfront Park. Stories, songs, and fingerplays will begin at the scheduled time. Families are welcome to play and picnic before and after the storytime. Duluth Parks & Recreation will be there with extra equipment for young children to utilize.

 

Tuesday, June 25 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street

The Dollipops – 10:30 am – 11:15 am: Get ready to sing, dance, and laugh with the engaging, high-energy, highly interactive new kids’ show – The Dollipops! “Dolli” and “Pop” are sisters who have traveled all the way from Sweet Tart City to bring you on a magical and musical road trip that is sure to get kids (and their parents!) moving, grooving, and making memories. From classic beach tunes to current Hollywood and pop hits, Dolli and Pop use music to allow kids the chance to use their imaginations, to sing and dance along, and even to enjoy their very own four and a half minutes of fame!

Stuffed Animal Sleepover Dropoff – All Day: Drop off your stuffed animal on Tuesday, June 25 (during the Dollipops!) or Wednesday, June 26 and pick them up during a special Storytime on Thursday, June 27th. Enjoy a snack while watching a video showing all the fun your animals had overnight at the library! No sign up required. 

Wednesday, June 26 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Storytime Stay & Play – 10:30 am – 12:00 pm: Stay and play after storytime with Duluth Parks and Recreation! Join us at 10:15 am for Baby and Toddler time or at 11:15 for Preschool Storytime. Stay after storytime for large motor and imaginative play provided by Duluth Parks and Recreation. This event is for children birth through preschool.

 

Thursday, June 27 at Mt. Royal Branch Library – 105 Mt. Royal Shopping Circle

Fun for Kids! – 10:30 am – 1 pm: Looking for fun and free activities for children this summer? Stop by the library on Thursdays from 10:30 am-1 pm for our weekly event Fun for Kids! Each week will have a variety of crafts, games, and activities for kids entering grades K-5. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

Undocumented: Great Lakes Poets Laureate on Social Justice – 5:30 pm – 7:15 pm: Join us for this gathering of poets laureate from the Great Lakes region reading from the new anthology Undocumented: Great Lakes Poets Laureate on Social Justice.  The book is organized around themes from the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “Ten Ways to Fight Hate: A Community Response Guide,” calling on readers to act on behalf of victims of social injustice. The evening of poetry and activism features poet laureate recipients from the Great Lakes region, including Deborah Cooper, Ken McCullough, Howard Paap, Sheila Packa, and Ellie Schoenfeld. Books will be available for purchase and signing from the Bookstore at Fitger’s.

Bubble Wonders  – 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm: Bubble Wonders is part science, part art, part inspiration and 100% fun! Combining the art and science of bubble-ology with heartfelt life-lessons and encouragement, Geoff Akins-Hannah’s bubble program is full of amazing tricks with ordinary soap bubbles. He blows bubbles inside bubbles, connect bubbles together to make caterpillars, foggy volcano bubbles, etc. Why he even puts kids INSIDE a bubble!
