NATURE OF INCIDENT: Structure Fire
CASE NO.: 19-6784
INCIDENT DATE: 7/8/2019
INCIDENT TIME: 0524
INCIDENT LOCATION: 2213 W 4th St

At 05:24 this morning, the Duluth Fire Department responded to a rapidly growing porch fire. A report was given of a trapped occupant on the second floor. The occupant jumped out of the window as fire crews arrived. Fire department members conducted primary searches and confirmed there were no other occupants inside the structure.

Mayo Clinic Ambulance was dispatched and treated a female patient for burns as well as smoke inhalation. The patient was transported to a local hospital, while two other occupants did not need treatment. We do not have any additional patient information at this time. There were no Fire Department or additional civilian injuries reported.

The two-story single family dwelling was fully involved with fire spreading to houses on both sides. Crews were able to keep the exposures from further fire damage. Both exposure houses received damage as a result of the fire. The main body of fire was knocked down and crews began opening wall spaces as the fire had extended to the attic space. Hot spots were extinguished and crews began clearing the scene.

Initial damages are estimated to be $75,000 for structure and contents. The occupants of the exposure houses were able to return to their respective houses. The initial fire house occupants are unable to enter their house at this time. The Duluth Fire Marshal's office is currently on scene investigating the cause and origin of the fire. Any further information will be provided by that office.

Fire companies from Headquarters Station, Lincoln Park, and Spirit Valley Station responded and remained on scene for just under two hours. Duluth Police Department was instrumental in evacuating neighboring houses as well as traffic control. Mayo Ambulance along with Minnesota Power were also on scene to assist.
