DPL EVENTS MONDAY, JULY 15 – FRIDAY, JULY 19

Monday, July 15 at Mt. Royal Branch Library – 105 Mt. Royal Shopping Circle
Mt. Royal Readers’ Guild – 2:30 – 3:30 pm: Want to join a “secret” readers’ guild? Let’s read Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library together & unlock the secrets through puzzles and activities. 

Read to a Dog – 3:30 – 4:30 pm: Kids are invited to read a story to a good listener with big ears! These one-on-one read-aloud sessions with a licensed therapy dog are a great way to practice reading in a comfortable, low-stress environment. Drop-in sessions available on a first come first served basis. Games and activities available while you wait.

 

Tuesday, July 16 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Kaleidoscope: Siama – 10:30 am and 1:30 pm: Siama and Dallas are bringing fun Congolese music to Duluth Public Library! Kids and families will be encouraged to sing along in Kikongo, Lingala and English while hearing fun stories that bring Siama's rural Bas Congo childhood to life. It's a joy to immerse yourself in happy African music, so don't miss it! This program is free and designed especially for kids but loved by audiences of all ages! On the library plaza. West Duluth Movies for Seniors: Book Club – 1:00 pm: Seniors, join the West Duluth Branch Library and the Evergreen Senior Center for a special summer movie series for Senior Citizens! Book Club - PG-13 - Drama/Romance - 1h 44m. Register online at http://www.duluthlibrary.org. 

 

Wednesday, July 17 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Special Musical Storytime - 10:15 am and 11:15 am: Join us for special storytimes featuring musical guest Judy Swedberg! Children will enjoy plenty of dancing, singing, and early literacy fun. In the Gold Room. **Please note: this is in place of the regular weekly storytime. 

Storytime Stay & Play – 10:30 am – 12:00 pm: Stay and play after storytime with Duluth Parks and Recreation! Join us at 10:15 am for Baby and Toddler time or at 11:15 for Preschool Storytime. Stay after storytime for large motor and imaginative play provided by Duluth Parks and Recreation. This event is for children birth through preschool. In the Green Room. 

Navy Band Concert - 12:30 – 1:30 pm: It's Navy Week in Duluth! Join us for a free concert from the Navy Band Great Lakes Jazz Combo performing live on the Library Plaza! The Jazz Combo is a versatile group of musicians who perform jazz standards to contemporary pop arrangements. They have performed throughout the Midwestern United States for military functions, public concerts, and school clinics. On the library plaza.

Squad Car Storytime – 3:45 – 4:15 pm: Join us for stories read by one of Duluth's police officers. Preschool age children. Meet in Youth Services.

Firefighter Storytime - 10:15 am: Listen to a story read by one of Duluth’s heroes from the fire department. See the firefighters dressed in their protective gear and clothing.  There will even be a real Duluth Fire Department firetruck!. **Please note: this is in place of the regular weekly storytime. 

Crafternoons for Kids – 2:00 – 3:00 pm: Spring into Crafternoons for a fun make-and-take craft project, enjoying the company of other crafters.  No experience or sign-up required.

 

Thursday, July 18 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Fun for Kids! – 10:30 am – 1 pm: Looking for fun and free activities for children this summer? Stop by the library on Thursdays from 10:30 am-1 pm for our weekly event Fun for Kids! Each week will have a variety of crafts, games, and activities for kids entering grades K-5. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult. In the Green Room.

Teen Anime & Manga Club - 4:00 - 6:00 pm: Teens, Food, Anime, Cosplay, and Games. All teens entering grades 6 - 12 are welcome! Candy Tapeball – Candy Galore for the fastest fingers! In the Green Room.

City Sounds: Concerts on the Plaza - 6:00 - 7:00 pm: Join us for the sound of the Duluth Symphonic Winds Community Band on the Library Plaza, rain or shine! Chairs will be set up, but feel free to bring your own. On the library plaza.
