SUBJECT: Search warrant results in drug sale charges and assault on a peace officer charges

[DULUTH, MN] On July 18, 2019 at 12:30 PM, investigators with the Duluth Police Department and Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force took into custody Alyssa Marie Donahue (22) and Matthew James Hanson (23). After an ongoing investigation, a search warrant was obtained for a residence located at 3101 W 3rd St. Due to the known presence of firearms, investigators waited for Hanson to leave the residence and arrested him on the 2400 Block of W 3rd St. Donahue was located in a different vehicle in the same location. During Hanson’s arrest, Donahue began to flee in her vehicle. An investigator was able force the vehicle into park after being dragged and shouting multiple commands to stop, at which point she was taken into custody. The investigator received a knee injury.
Investigators executed the search warrant at 3101 W 3rd St and located 363 grams of methamphetamine and 169 grams of cocaine packaged for sale, $2202.00 in cash, and a loaded 9mm pistol.
Alyssa Marie Donahue was charged with two counts of 1st Degree Aiding and Abetting Drug Sales, Assault on a Peace Officer, and Fleeing a Peace Officer in a Motor Vehicle.
Matthew James Hanson was charged with two counts of 1st Degree drug sales.
