City to hold Public Meetings on the Relocation of the Cross City Trail
[Duluth, MN] The City of Duluth will hold two public input meetings to review the relocation of the Cross City Trail due to utility and road improvements associated with the upcoming Twin Ports Interchange reconstruction project. Impacts to the Cross City Trail due to construction work are anticipated to start in the spring of 2020 and last until the spring of 2023. The City is working jointly with the Minnesota Department of Transportation on the utility and local road improvements, road closures, and detours. One of the impacts of this improvement project is the closure of Lower Michigan Street for utility installation and as part of the traffic control plan for southbound I-35 traffic. See attached project overview and route information.
Providing a trail relocation option during the construction of the interchange work would ensure an inclusive transportation system that is safe for riders, pedestrians, and vehicles.
Meetings will be held at the Duluth Transportation Authority Board Room (322 W. Michigan Street) on Wednesday, July 31 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. and again on Thursday, August 1 at 7:30 AM. City staff will give a short presentation that will be followed by an open discussion to address individual questions. Discussion topics will include the proposed trail relocation, including routes reviewed, impacts to parking and bus stops.
