[DULUTH, MN] General Information:

The Spirit Valley Days Parade in West Duluth will start at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, resulting in street closures on 59^th Ave. W. and on Central Ave. from 5:30 p.m. until approximately 7:30 p.m. 

On Saturday, August 3, the Spirit Valley Days Block Party and Car Show will take place on Grand Ave. between 59^th Ave. W. and Central Ave.  The Block Party starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.  The Car Show will run from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with show cars arriving between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Grand Ave. will close to traffic from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. to facilitate these events. 

Ramsey St. between Central Ave. and 57^th Ave. W. will remain open throughout this year’s Spirit Valley Days. 

The following contains details of the street closures, detours, and parking restrictions:

Street Closures and Parking Restrictions for the

Spirit Valley Days Parade, Thursday, August 1: 

On Thursday, August 1, starting at 4:30 p.m., 59th Avenue West between Raleigh Street and Grand Avenue will close to allow Parade units to line up.  The Parade route will close at 5:30 p.m., and the Parade will begin at 6:00 p.m. Streets will re-open by approximately 7:30 p.m., upon the conclusion of the Parade.

All arriving parade units should go to 59^th Ave. W. and Raleigh St. to line-up. 

The Parade will proceed east on Grand Avenue from 59th Avenue West to Central Avenue, south on Central Avenue to Ramsey Street, and east on Ramsey St., where the parade units disband before Mike Colalillo Drive. 

All avenues and exits onto Grand between 59th Avenue West and Central Avenue will close during the Parade. 

No parking will be allowed on either side of Grand Avenue along the parade route, on 59th Avenue West from Raleigh St. to Grand Ave., on Central Avenue from Grand Ave. to Ramsey St, and on Ramsey Street from Central Avenue to Mike Colalillo Drive.  "No Parking" signs will be posted along these routes. Vehicles in violation will be tagged and towed.

Street Closure and Parking Restrictions for the

Spirit Valley Days Block Party and Car Show, Saturday, August 3:

Grand Avenue between Central Avenue and 59^th Avenue West will close to vehicle traffic from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. to allow for set-up and teardown of the Spirit Valley Days Block Party and Car Show.  

The Block Party starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m.  The Car Show runs from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with show cars arriving between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. 

Vehicles in the Car Show should arrive between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., and may only enter the Car Show at the intersection of Grand Ave. and Central Ave.  All Car Show cars must exit the Car Show area by 7:30 p.m.

All Car Show vehicles arriving shall follow the direction of the signal lights while entering and exiting the event, unless otherwise directed by Police Officers on scene.

All avenues and exits onto Grand between 59th Avenue West and Central Avenue will close during the Car Show, and driveways leading onto Grand Ave. will be closed. 

No parking will be allowed on either side of Grand Avenue between 59^th Ave. W. and Central Ave. during this event.  Vehicles in violation will be tagged and towed.

Detours and Busing 

During both the Spirit Valley Days Parade and the Block Party and Car Show, the following detours for traffic and DTA buses will be in place: 

Eastbound traffic on Grand Avenue will be detoured north on 59th Avenue West toward Cody Street and Eighth Street. 

Westbound traffic on Grand Avenue will be detoured north on Central Avenue toward Cody Street and Eighth Street. 

DTA Buses will use Cody Street as a detour.  Westbound buses will turn up Central Avenue and travel west on Cody to 59th Ave. W.   Eastbound buses will turn up 59th Avenue West to Cody St. and travel east to Central Avenue.

Motorists should be alert to detours, no parking areas, and Officers directing traffic.
