DPL EVENTS MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
[Duluth, MN] -- All Duluth Public Library events are free and open to the public.
Monday, September 16 at Mt. Royal Branch Library – 105 Mt. Royal Shopping Circle
Siama’s Congo Roots - 10:30 am: Siama’s Congo Roots features traditional & original folk songs and soukous dance music, along with African instruments like balafon and mbira. When Siama is joined by Dallas Johnson (singer/storyteller/hand percussionist), their harmonies are inspiring and their joy is contagious as they perform and encourage everyone to sing along. The duo sings, tells stories and encourages audience participation, getting everyone to sing, play instruments and dance. All ages, family-friendly program.
Monday, September 16 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Book Bingo - 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: If you like bingo, you’ll love book bingo – instead of numbers we draw book titles! Play to win a gift card to Barnes & Noble. In the Gold Room.
Wednesday, September 18 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Baby and Toddler Storytime - 10:15 am: For children from birth to 36 months. 20 minutes of simple stories and fingerplays for infants and toddlers with parents. In the Gold Room.
Preschool Storytime - 11:15 am: 30 minutes of stories, songs and fingerplays. Parents are welcome to attend with their preschoolers but may also treat it as a first independent activity for their children. In Youth Services.
Wednesday, September 18 at West Duluth Branch Library – 5830 Grand Avenue
West Duluth Storytime - 10:30 am: 30 minutes of stories, songs, and fingerplays.
Read to a Dog - 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm: Kids are invited to read a story to a good listener with big ears! These one-on-one read-aloud sessions with a licensed therapy dog are a great way to practice reading in a comfortable, low-stress environment. Drop-in sessions available on a first come first served basis. Games and activities available while you wait.

Crafternoons for Kids – 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Spring into Crafternoons for a fun make-and-take craft project, enjoying the company of other crafters. No experience or sign-up required.

LEGO® at the Library – 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm: LEGO® playtime! Bring your imagination and the library will supply the LEGO® bricks! For kids in grades K-5. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

Teen Anime and Manga Club – 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm: We are taking the club on the road! Meet at The Incline Station for bowling and pizza! Registration required at duluthlibrary.org.

DPL Book Group: Braving the Wilderness – 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm: Braving the Wilderness: the Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone by Brene´ Brown – Social scientist Brené Brown has sparked a global conversation about the experiences that bring meaning to our lives. In Braving the Wilderness, Brown redefines what it means to truly belong in an age of increased polarization. With her trademark mix of research, storytelling, and honesty, Brown will again change the cultural conversation while mapping a clear path to true belonging. New members welcome!
Saturday, September 21 at Main Library – 520 West Superior Street
Shrinkable Art for Kids – 11:30 am – 1:00 pm: Join us in the Youth Services Area from 11:30-1:00 pm and display your creative side for an afternoon of Shrinkable Art! Design your own artwork, jewelry, magnets, and keychains then watch as they shrink before your eyes. Fun for the whole family! Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. In Youth Services.
