Duluth Public Library Employees attend CHUM’s Expanding Horizons Tour
DULUTH, MN -- Thanks to a grant from the Minnesota Power Foundation, staff members of the Duluth Public Library were able to attend CHUM’s Expanding Horizons--a five-hour local poverty awareness program that gives community members the opportunity to learn about poverty, hunger and homelessness in Duluth by meeting with organizations who work with people experiencing these realities every day. Library staff said that hearing about the hardships that individuals who experience homelessness face was a revelation for some. Many staff said that the opportunity to attend the tour will help make interactions more empathetic and that learning about some of the services offered will help them direct patrons to the available services.
